BeoVision 7 was introduced in the early days of LCD technology and accordingly the first examples - the relatively poor screen, lack of resolution and fewer connections - meant that compared to a lot of other manufacturers, the purchaser didn’t feel as though he or she was getting total value for money. But all of that has changed with newer models replacing the more elderly BeoVision 7 examples and quality now oozes every which way.

BeoVision 7-32 MKII replaced the first variant, the BeoVision 7-32 MKI.

Everything about th BeoVision 7-32 MKII gave the impression of quality: from its glass-finished, high-gloss black screen frame through to its anodised aluminium outer trim. A range of stand options in a good range of colours ensured that the TV complemented a home environment suitably well. And with a choice of speakers, an individual TV could be created - a bespoke receiver, waiting to do its owner’s bidding from the included Beo4 remote control handset.

A personal choice of matching speaker was waiting to be made, from a three-way stereo version, the smaller BeoLab 7-1 or the longer BeoLab 7-2, or the monophonic centre-speaker BeoLab 7-4 for inclusion within a home cinema set-up.

Underneath the screen was its inbuilt DVD player which slid gently open out of its bulge, ready to take a DVD or CD. There was even a light built into the tray to help the user in a darkened room.

Available stands for BeoVision 7 included a table stand, fixed wall bracket for TV and loudspeaker, motorised table stand and a motorised floor stand, as well as a moveable wall bracket for TV and loudspeaker.

On its special stands BeoVision 7 tilted and turned to suit a wide variety of viewing position and the motorised table and floor stands turned the set through an arc of 70°at the touch of a button.

BeoVision 7 was delivered as standard with a Dolby Digital/DTS Surround Sound module, MasterLinkmodule, Set-Top Box Controller for satellite reception and control, RF Modulator, an Anti-Reflex Coated Contrast Screen and DVI PC input.

With a choice of 32″ and 40″ versions the BeoVision 7 was a very desirable TV which offered mix-and-match components and offred excellent sound and vision possibilities. The 40″ version incorporated BeoSystem 3, an advanced digital surround sound processor and was full High Definition. VisionClear technology monitored the surrounding light levels and adjusted the brightness and contrast of the set accordingly.

Main differences between Mark I and Mark II versions:

  • New DVD player including ability to playback JPEGs
  • Home Cinema Control module as an option complete with RF amplifier
  • New Cinema Function as an option which included video projector handling and control outputs for Home Cinema Control kit
  • New modulator (that used in BeoVision 7-40)
  • (BeoVision 7-32 MK II was not HD-ready at start of production)

All versions of the BeoVision 7 included regular software updates. However, for Mark I & II versions customers had to purchase a special kit in order to make thir TVs HD-ready.

'BeoVision 7 is more than just a TV; it’s a complete entertainment system specially created to offer a sound and picture experience far beyond expectations. With its 81cm LCD screen, built-in DVD player and powerful active loudspeaker system, BeoVision 7 offers all the benefits of flat-screen viewing, but with exceptional sound performance as well.'

BeoVision 7 combines both an 81cm LCD monitor with an integrated DVD Player, DSS surround sound module and a dedicated loudspeaker in BeoLab 7-1. The concept emphasises the separation of picture and sound together with a good number of placement options. With BeoLab 7-1 the very highest level of acoustic performance is delivered. BeoVision 7 has a higher display resolution than that of BeoVision 6 - 26: 1366 x 768 (WXGA) pixels against 1280 x 768 pixels of BeoVision 6.

BeoVision 7 may be used as either a stand-alone television set or as a large-screen monitor within a domestic surround-sound system. There are five different stand placement options available to the user:

BeoVision 7 Press Release December 2004

Exceptional sound and that’s just half the picture

Bang & Olufsen has now released the BeoVision 7 television, offering complete home entertainment with a 32” LCD widescreen, integrated DVD player and digital surround sound module, and a three-way, stereo loudspeaker system of exceptional performance.

The BeoVision 7 television continues the Bang & Olufsen tradition of idea-based products, focusing on a unique design process, attention to detail, and on ensuring the optimal balance between sound, picture, and the complete user interaction and experience. The LCD monitor offers the best possible picture in all situations with full application of Bang & Olufsen’s picture optimising technologies, and the dedicated loudspeaker system incorporates breakthrough acoustic technologies previously seen in the BeoLab range of loudspeakers.

“With the introduction of the BeoVision 7 television, we have broadened an already impressive television portfolio,” says Torben Ballegaard Sørensen, CEO, Bang & Olufsen; “BeoVision 7 represents the complete television solution with its built-in DVD and versatile placement – whether it is used stand-alone or as part of a home cinema solution. Like all Bang & Olufsen products, BeoVision 7 brings its own unique expressive qualities to the home.”

The complete television

Utilising the latest LCD picture technology and with an integrated DVD player, the BeoVision 7 television offers superb sound and picture experiences. As a stand-alone television, watching films on the 32” widescreen is supported by the powerful loudspeaker system. The integrated digital surround sound module offers the ultimate in home cinema together with any loudspeakers from the BeoLab range, without the need for an extra box or cables.

In addition to the integrated DVD player and digital surround sound module, BeoVision 7 also has a Set Top Box controller module as standard, offering access to satellite channels using the Beo4 remote control. There are also connections for earphones, external entertainment sources and BeoLab loudspeakers, as well as for digital interface with a PC.

Using a Bang & Olufsen product is always a pleasurable experience, and the BeoVision 7 television is no exception. When switched on, the electronic curtains open, and, when activated, the DVD loader swings out from below the screen in a silent, smooth motion. The vertical display text provides instant recognition of the TVs operational status, volume, and the entertainment source, and is placed to the right of the widescreen so as not to break the design lines.

Genuine loudspeaker concept – Optimised for television

The loudspeaker system for the BeoVision 7 television has been designed as a genuine Bang & Olufsen loudspeaker concept. The loudspeaker cabinet is cast in a single piece of aluminium, and is fronted by a natural-coloured anodised aluminium grill. The loudspeaker extends beyond the limits of the picture screen and is mounted separately, emphasising the sound performance as well as visually accentuating the presence of sound as an integral part of the viewing experience.

Built with Active Loudspeaker technology, the loudspeaker contains six ICEPower amplifiers built into 3 stereo units in a three-way bass reflex loudspeaker system. The loudspeaker is equipped with thermal protection circuits and Adaptive Bass Linearisation (ABL), which ensures that the loudspeaker performs without distortion, even at very high volume. Each loudspeaker is individually calibrated to the same standard prior to leaving the factory, and has two bass presets for room adaptation, for wall or free-standing placement.

The best possible picture in all situations

Bang & Olufsen’s skills with the VisionClear package of picture technologies ensure the best possible picture from the LCD monitor in all situations. VisionClear covers a range of technologies that the viewer experiences in the form of greater viewing comfort, and the BeoVision 7 television represents the complete application of VisionClear. When BeoVision 7 is switched on, the TV automatically adjusts picture quality to match the current light conditions – and will carry on doing so until the television is switched off again. The anti-reflection coating on the contrast screen reduces significantly the effect of incoming light on the screen, offering pleasurable viewing even in strong daylight.

Place & enjoy anywhere

The versatile and expressive character of the BeoVision 7 television changes to fit the room. Place it on a floor or table stand, or hang it on one of the wall brackets, and the convenience of the flat screen allows for almost unlimited placement. Furthermore, the manual and motorised turn and tilt options ensure that the viewer always has the best viewing conditions.

The BeoVision 7 can enter into any home system with other Beolink-enabled Bang & Olufsen audio and loudspeaker products. Beolink is Bang & Olufsen’s unique home integration system, based on the principle of ‘move and share the experience – not the equipment’, with everything controlled by the Beo4 remote control.

Unprecedented attention to detail

The BeoVision 7 television illustrates once again Bang & Olufsen’s leading standards of design and craftsmanship in manufacturing. The LCD monitor and dark front glass are placed against a visually appealing brushed aluminium frame. Production processes have been specially tailored to ensure the finished product matches the original design idea. The brushed aluminium frame and the ‘swing’ opening of the DVD loader are just two examples of this attention to detail and an idea-led product development process that makes a Bang & Olufsen product unique.
